The Knowledge Audit (K-Audit) is the first major step and process of a Knowledge Management (KM) initiative/program.
The Knowledge Audit reports on the current knowledge state so that corporate knowledge can then be efficiently and effectively managed.
A knowledge audit is vitally and critically important to knowledge management.
Before you can manage knowledge (knowledge management) you must know your current knowledge assets and relevant things about these assets.
"You can't manage what you don't know you have ."
And famously,
"You can't manage what you have not measured"
The Knowledge Audit serves the above purpose.
Hence the need for the Knowledge Audit.

Note: The ©KeKma-Audit is multi-staged but, it is important that the FULL Knowledge Audit process be completed.

WARNING: Do NOT under-estimate the complexity of a Knowledge Audit:
to do so can be a BIG and costly mistake.
